The Proven Science Behind Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide

If you are a Consonant Skincare fan, you probably know about our hero product HydrExtreme. Well known for its amazing results, and short list of ingredients (there are only 2), HydrExtreme is made of Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide and pure vegetable glycerine. Although you may have heard of vegetable glycerine, we're assuming that Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide are new words to your vocabulary. If you are not a cosmetic chemist, here is the low-down on how this powerful ingredient works to hydrate your skin.

What is Cassia Angustifolia Seed?

Basically Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide is a water-binding sugar that exerts its effects by holding moisture within the skin. It is sourced from Cassia, or Senna,  a plant native to India that is high in polysaccharides. With a similar structure to Hyaluronic Acid, it helps hydrate in two ways. It binds up to 1000x its weight in water and it also creates a barrier on the skin to lock in moisture.

How does it work?

When combined with glycerin, these two ingredients work as a team to deliver long lasting moisture. While the glycerin attracts water to your skin from deep within, and from the atmosphere, Cassia Angustifolia works its magic to bind with the water, plumping the skin, and create a barrier to prevent water loss. In a nutshell glycerin attracts the water, and Cassia Angustifolia locks it all in.

Clinical Studies Point to Remarkable Results:

Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide Results:

As an individual ingredient, Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide has been clinically proven to be a more potent hydrator than Hyaluronic Acid (the industry gold standard hydration ingredient), over the course of 24 hours. These positive results were what inspired us to conduct our own clinical study testing our finished product, HydrExtreme, against top Hyaluronic Acid serums.

HydrExtreme Results:

The results from our recent independent double-blinded clinical trial confirmed something that we already knew; Cassia Angustifolia really is a much better hydrator than Hyaluronic Acid. When compared to the leading Hyaluronic Acid serum on the market, Hydrextreme out-performed the leading competitor by 70% after 1 hour, and by 35% after 24 hours.

Why else do we love these two ingredients?

Cassia Polysaccharide and glycerin are not oil based, which is why these 2 ingredients absorb into your skin right away, and do not leave you greasy. If you are someone who is concerned about products clogging your pores, you don't have to worry about these two ingredients doing so.

They are also fantastic ingredients for people with sensitive skin and dryness such as eczema, or dermatitis. We have received some amazing feedback from our customers telling us how HydrExtreme has saved them from eczema and dermatitis, totally transforming their skin.

Finally, our customers love that HydrExtreme is super versatile. It can be mixed with your moisturizer, sunscreen, or applied under foundation, and leaves your skin plump and hydrated, without being greasy.

Final Thoughts on Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide:

We are such firm believers in the effects of Cassia Angustifolia, that we include it not only in our HydrExtreme, but in the majority of our skincare products. If you're looking for potent hydration, you need to check out HydrExtreme, which contains high concentrations of this ingredient.

Proven by science to outperform the current gold-standard for hydration, we can't get enough of Cassia Angustifolia, and would literally bathe in it if we could!
